Vila Viçosa - September 2010
Hey everyone,

How's things? This post is mainly to remind you all that I love you and cherish the support you've shown me and continue to show me every single day. I'm always so happy to see you, twitter and facebook you, it reminds me to have faith when I feel a little run down or tired. You make it worth it and I'm proud to stand next to you and be a part of the Free World we've created!

The concert this past weekend in Vila Viçosa was rocking, the fans crowded the barriers and I couldn't get out - beautifully manic, just as I like! It was lovely to hang out, meet all of you, take all the pictures (which will be up on the With Fans and Friends section in Pictures soon!) and feel your warmth and happiness. Thanks so much to everyone who made it possible, and bring on Camden Town on September 16th!!

I'm excited for Barfly (Camden Town) in 10 days - I play in London once in a while so it's nice to go back and re-energize and connect with all the fans there - I know there are some peeps flying in from the US and Germany for the show too, that makes it another level of special! I'm getting a little nervous, the other day I dreamed only about 6 people turned up. Hahah! I hope there's a little more than that! Either way, I've seen lots of you have already got your tickets, I can't wait to run around stage and sing my heart out with my band - we're gonna have a great time and some of the classics will be in the setlist! Yay! :)

Pick up your ticket to my London show at Barfly on September 16th 2010 here: http://www.gigsandtours.com/?a=ana+free&site=anafree and don't forget to RSVP on the official event page here! :)

I've been filming all my travels for you with Mark Maclaine, the same talent who directed my upcoming music video, Questions In My Mind (out this September, woohoo!) He's joined the entourage for this leg of the Radian promotion and we've been getting creative and have even spontaneously put together an idea for a new music video - we've been testing out locations and things, it's looking very nice so far, we'll have to wait and see once we've put it all together - it'll be nice to show you all that side of my music and what it's like being on the road.

That's it for the moment, keep in touch via my official Twitter page, and my official Facebook page :)

Much love to all, keep smiling, rock on!
xx

Ana

Hey beautiful Free World!
It's been a while since I've written and lots has been going on! Through most of the summer, I've been recording my debut album in London and preparing for the upcoming concerts. I opened for talented British singer/songwriter, James Morrison, at the end of July which was very cool. I played to my largest crowd to date, which was around 15,000 people. I didn't have too much time to sit and address my nerves (which I've managed to bring under good control, especially over the last years of performing) - my crew were simply like "Ana, 5 minutes to go", and I was still rushing to make sure everything was in order! Before I knew it, I was out there opening my set with my beautiful fans. I literally cannot put into words how it makes me feel when I play with you all, when you're there so close to me, dancing and singing - it makes me believe that massive mountains can really be moved, broken hearts and souls can be healed and time can actually stop for a few moments. Thank you so much for being my inspiration every single day to continue, persevere, and never give up. Your messages, your shoulders to lean on, your kind words of love are priceless. I profoundly hope that in some way or another, my music and my journeys have given back to you, all that you give and have given me. Anyway, thought I'd tell you that :-p

Hey everyone,

How's everything going? I've just made a short weekend stop-over in Lisbon to go home and celebrate my birthday with my family - thank you all so much for the birthday wishes on FB, Twitter, etc., you are superstars! Just wanted to send a huge thank you to every one of you around the world for watching my videos, taking the time to join the Free World, spreading the word and sharing my videos with your friends and family. I can't thank you enough!

Here's the link for the latest videoclip for the collaboration song I recorded with the fantastic Portuguese band, Hands On Approach. Their latest album is great, a mixture of mellow and uptempo rock tracks. Thanks for giving it a listen!

I'll be back in London this week gearing up for more studio fun and projects - I'll let you know more later!

Big kissKiss to all and speak soon!
xx

Summer has arrived here in Europe, and I have definitely caught World Cup fever along with it! No matter what happens, it's important to me that people around the globe are given a chance to support, come together and make some noise for sports. I'm so glad that I have had the chance to meet some of you through the World Cup tweets and the Waka Waka video which I posted. You are amazing and beautiful people, thank you for loving others, following the music and choosing peace. Thanks so much for joining in, being a part of the Free World, I'm so grateful to have you all by my side to share this life with!
Big kiss to everyone!!

Greeting peeps!

How are things? Today it occurred to me that even though I post all my lyrics+chords here on the website, a lot of you guitar-players (particularly those of you just beginning) may not know how to play certain chords you find on the sheets. Actually, you may be interested to know that I don't even know a lot of the names of the chords I use to write songs with. I never had formal guitar lessons, my father taught me from age 8 or 9. He learned just like me - by ear. To me, whatever sounds nice, just sticks! Over the years, I've learned what a lot of the chords are called, but even today, I still makeup nicknames for unknown chords or variations on chords! When it comes to providing you all with the lyrics+chords, sometimes this 'nicknaming' can cause issues, and so I go and scour the internet for their names. I figured that these websites will be useful to those of you looking to learn how to play guitar for the fun of it, and will also be helpful resources for those of you wanting to make a long-term hobby out of it! I'm guessing lots of you may have already come across some of these links (and other good ones!), but here's what works well for me:

For finding out lots of ways to play a chord, I use:
